Dr. Evans received his MD from LSU Medical School in New Orleans in 1983. He completed a Neurology
residency at the University of California Irvine in 1987, and fellowships there in Geriatric Neurology and Psychobiology in
1990. He joined the faculty at UC Irvine in 1991 as Assistant Professor in Neurology where he conducted research
in olfactory physiology and worked with patients in the Geriatrics, Alzheimer's and Memory Disorders Clinics. He moved
into private practice in Florence, SC in 1995 where he currently practices general neurology. He is certified by
the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology and Sleep Medicine. He is
certified in Neuroimaging by the United Council of Neurological Subspecialties and in Neurosonology by the American Society of
Neuroimaging. He is certified as an Authorized User of Nuclear Medicine by SC DHEC and is the Radiation Safety
Officer for Comprehensive Neurological Services. He retains appointment as Clinical Professor of Neurology
at the Medical University of South Carolina. He is an active member of Fork Baptist Church where he serves
as Deacon and Commander of the AWANA Clubs ministry. He is married to Toni Ellis Cooke-Evans and has
two children, Allison and Aiden, and two step children, Richard and Avonlea.
